Impact Talks with the European Business Association

At the invitation of the European Business Association and Serhiy Ivaschenko, Head of the EBA ESG Hub and Director of GR, CSR & Sustainability at METRO Ukraine, on 19 May we spoke about ESG assessments and their role for business.

The discussion focused on:

• why business needs an ESG assessment already today;
• why the world is moving from declarations to real data;
• how ESG ratings work globally;
• why greenwashing is becoming a risk for companies;
• how the war is changing approaches to sustainability: Safety, veterans, cybersecurity.

One of the key messages: “Reputation is the new currency.” Ukrainian business is already shaping a new vision of resilience through experience, adaptability and the ability to operate under constant challenges.

Today it is no longer enough simply to declare environmental or social policies - business needs digitalised evidence of sustainability. Scorex is exactly such an example: a Ukrainian ESG assessment tool built to European standards, which helps companies understand their level of sustainability and their points of growth.

We explored:

• global ESG ratings and scorings, and the architecture of the methodology;
• how businesses can obtain their assessment and verify the sustainability of their suppliers.

Having a sustainability report with auditor assurance does not yet mean that a company is sustainable. That is why assessing a company on the basis of reporting or declarations alone is becoming increasingly difficult. Authoritative ESG assessments can open doors to financing and business partnerships.

We discussed why classical approaches to ESG already require rethinking - and how leading-edge practice is being shaped today, using SCX Sustainability Scorex as an example: the world’s first sustainability assessment that treats Safety as a standalone dimension and accounts for wartime context and armed conflict.
