World’s first ESG assessment and due diligence with standalone Safety and war context

22 April 2026, Kyiv - On International Earth Day, a Ukrainian company launched the world’s first business sustainability assessment system based on the E(2S)G methodology by SCX Sustainability Scorex™, which incorporates the context of war. For the first time in ESG assessment practice, military risks have been accounted for, and Safety has been established as a distinct analytical dimension.

What is SCX Sustainability Scorex™

In recent years, sustainability requirements have shifted from voluntary initiatives to a critical factor for accessing markets, capital and partnerships. ESG has become a mandatory requirement for large businesses within the EU and beyond. ESG data is used not only in cooperation with partners and supply chains, but also in credit and investment decisions. Meanwhile, new regulations such as the CSRD are changing the rules of the game even for companies outside the EU. SCX Sustainability Scorex™ is an independent strategic diagnostic of a business’s sustainability practices, allowing a company to objectively evaluate its own level of sustainability and to prepare for these requirements. It is a tool for companies that act proactively: working systematically on their sustainability, preventing risks and, at the same time, setting requirements for partners and supply chains.

SCX Sustainability Scorex™ provides a comprehensive analysis of business sustainability practices, expressed in a final Score (up to 100) across four E(2S)G factors: Environmental, Social, Safety and Governance. Each factor is weighted according to its impact. In addition to the overall score, companies receive individual ratings for each factor, allowing them to clearly identify strengths and areas for growth.

The analysis is based on current regulatory requirements and international benchmarks, while accounting for military and geopolitical contexts.

Safety as a distinct dimension

Today, safety extends far beyond occupational health: it includes business resilience to crises, cyberattacks and armed conflicts. SCX Sustainability Scorex™ singles out Safety (including Security) and demonstrates whether a company protects lives, health, critical processes and infrastructure from physical, digital, operational and military threats.

“Traditional ESG approaches do not fully account for the modern nature of risks, as safety today goes beyond labour protection and climate alone. At the same time, none of the current international standards - neither GRI, MSCI ESG Rating, nor S&P Global ESG Score - accounts for armed conflict as a systemic risk factor for business.

This is the first independent sustainability assessment methodology established in Ukraine and the first in the world to take the context of war into account. Scorex doesn’t rewrite ESG - it makes it ‘grown-up’. We highlight dimensions that already have a real impact on business value: safety, strategic maturity and crisis resilience. Our goal by 2030 is to become the corporate-wide standard for business sustainability assessment, increasing the maturity of and trust in Ukrainian business and stimulating larger financial flows into Ukraine,” says Kateryna Davydova, Founder & CEO of SCX Sustainability Scorex™.

Key differences

Unlike classic global ESG ratings, SCX Sustainability Scorex™:

  • evaluates not only policies and reporting, but also real operational resilience;
  • accounts for factors that already have an impact on company value today: safety, crisis resilience and geopolitical risks;
  • is adapted to new regulatory requirements and investor expectations;
  • integrates the context of war as a systemic risk factor for the first time;
  • separates “Strategic Maturity” as part of the Governance dimension, demonstrating readiness for transformation and assessing the depth of sustainability integration into the business model, the quality of risk management, the Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) and reporting transparency.

Target audience

SCX Sustainability Scorex™ is a universal tool adapted for companies across various industries. The assessment is suitable for businesses that prepare non-financial reports, attract investment or financing, operate in or expand to the EU, and aim to systematically manage sustainability risks and their supply chains.

Furthermore, it creates a foundation for more objective business evaluations for investors and financial institutions, increasing market transparency and the quality of financing decisions. The methodology is relevant not only for Ukraine, but also for countries experiencing armed conflict, recovery or geopolitical instability.
